HTC Droid Eris – A Quick Review

 Advertisment

Design: The design of this cell phone model is very similar to that of the HTC Hero. The HTC Droid Eris does not come with a slide out keyboard as it uses a virtual keyboard on its touch screen. The black casing, rounded edges and soft-touch finish give it a classical and stylish look. This model is pretty slim, measuring 4.45 x 2.19 x 0.51 inches and weighs in at just 4.23 ounces. Despite its size, the phone feels very solid.

Features: The 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen (HVGA) was a delight to use. It has a 320 x 480 resolutions and displayed crisp and sharp images. It is generally very responsive and easy to use. Another cool feature on the HTC Droid Eris is that it comes with a proximity sensor. When you place the phone near your face to make/receive a call, the screen will automatically turn off to prevent accidental dialings (from the touch of your cheek). It also has an accelerometer that automatically switches the display from landscape to portrait and vice-versa. Besides using the touch screen, you can also use the four navigational buttons and a trackball that is located below the screen to navigate the phone.

Performance: Through our tests, the quality of the calls made were very good. Surfing the web and watching YouTube videos was rather smooth and the photos taken from its built-in camera (5MP) was decent. This model has a 528Mhz MSM7600 processor. Overall, the HTC Droid Eris is a very decent Android phone. It has tones of features and best of all, comes with a very decent price tag. At the moment, you can get your hands on a HTC Droid Eris for just $9.99 (with a service plan).
