Looking for a great cell phone can will also give you access to the Internet, your email, and even allow you to view and edit documents in Word and Excel, as well as view PowerPoint files, create notes with OneNote Mobile, then the HTC Ozone from Verizon Wireless is the phone for you. Additionally, I can view PDF files with the Adobe Reader LE PDF viewer and attach PDF files to my email, as I can with any other file types. Complete with a full QWERTY keyboard, the HTC Ozone will synchronize files from your computer, including all contacts in Outlook, by simply connecting them together with a USB cord and selecting the command, SYNC from the program list. Agreeing with other reviewers, the QWERTY keyboard is small, but it is, after all, a device that only measures 4.5″ (H) x 2.5″ (W) x 0.5″ (D).
Interfacing with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, I can down load my favorite podcasts and music using Windows Media Player Mobile with the option of hearing it play directly from the phone’s speaker or use Bluetooth* Stereo Support for private listening. Further multimedia capabilities include Voice command, voice notes/recorder capable, and the can’t live without – speakerphone. Actually, I use the speakerphone on almost all the calls I make, as the volume on the earpiece is not very strong.
The display is sharp; 2.4″ Display: 320×240 pixel QVGA resolution; 64K color support LCD with a choice of either indoor or outdoor mode. I keep the display on permanent outdoor mode. It also comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera with fixed focus and video capture.
When traveling, the HTC Ozone has Mobile Broadband Connect, VZ Navigatorsm, Bluetooth Wireless Technology (v2.0) including A2DP for Stereo support, Wi-Fi Connectivity (802.11 b/g), so I can use it as a tethered modem with Mobile Broadband Connect to my laptop. The microSD(TM) memory slot is expandable up to 16GB, with memory Flash: 256MB; RAM; 192MB – a lot more powerful than my desktop!
If you are a current Verizon Wireless customer, you may be eligible as I was to trade in my old phone for the HTC Ozone at no cost. However, having the convenience of all of these features does require an additional monthly fee, so check Verizon Wireless for their latest packages.
